how to make guacamole dip for tacos simple and fresh

In our house we love tacos. (Check out my chicken taco recipe! ;)) But do you know what is better than tacos? Adding this guacamole dip on TOP of said tacos… For real though, this recipe is so good, you can eat this alone as an amazing nutritious snack too. Read on for some tips and tricks to make sure your guacamole turns out perfectly, because who doesn’t like delicious guacamole!?

How to make guacamole

  1. Mash ripe avocados and add lemon and lime juice.
  2. Dice red onion into small pieces.
  3. Add red onion, and spices to mashed avocados.
  4. Finely chop cilantro and mix everything together!

Tips for making guacamole dip for tacos

  • Use fresh lemon and lime- Bottled lemon and lime juice will work, but you will get the best most flavorful guac from using the juice of fresh lemons and limes. I like to use a hand juicer to make this process quick and easy.
  • Make sure your avocados are ripe but not too ripe– Avocados are tricky little things, aren’t they!? They can go from not being ripe to being over ripe in a matter of hours it seems like. Finding the perfect avocados is KEY! If you do end up with an over ripe avocado, all MIGHT NOT BE LOST! Be sure to pick out any brown spots Here is a trusted guide on how to pick the right avocados
  • Chop onions FINELY- Some people LOVE onion, but even so, biting into a huge chunk of red onion isn’t a welcome surprise when eating guacamole. Dicing your onion into small pieces still adds a little crunch, but more importantly, keeps the flavor evenly distributed.
  • Try it on EVERYTHING!!- Okay, maybe not everything. But guacamole is good on so many different foods. Burgers, eggs, toast, veggies, in addition to pizza, and even pineapple!!

Can you freeze guacamole dip?

Absolutely! Just store in a freezer safe, air tight container. I like to store mine in a ziplock bag with no air in it but you could also store in a food container. Just cover the guacamole with plastic wrap so no air gets to it. Let it thaw over night in the refrigerator when you’re ready to eat!
